Sizzling Piggy was born at a fireworks party to celebrate a family birthday in 1993. I had offered to provide the meat for the party and with three days to go I wondered how I was going to cook it. After some thought and a lot of work I produced the first Sizzling Piggy barbecue, which was a rather primitive device, and we barbecued a whole lamb on a spit.

The following year the party was held at a neighbours' house - my invention had been developed for mobility and efficiency, as well as for cooking in good weather or bad. The guests all enjoyed the lamb and recuested that I cook at their parties. A success from its first appearance, Sizzling Piggy, was developing into an alternative form of income and I'm happy cooking for people.
Having worked out a pricing structure I have been doing barbecues for folk all over Scotland and the North of England, UK.

Having farmed in the Borders most of my working life, I am reasonably well known and have a reputation to live up to for my various forms of diversification. I have not advertised Sizzling Piggy other than word of mouth. It is only by doing a good job that Sizzling Piggy is in demand and has grown from small beginnings. Totally consumer led by natural networking Sizzling Piggy does on average 40 functions per year. These can include weddings, 40th and 50th birthday parties, corporate days out and agricultural shows.
